Tomorrow Steve and I will have been married for 16 years…and we still really like eachother.
Total Bonus.
Because of our church callings, work, school, music lessons, YM's for Andrew and a baby, we decided to celebrate this last Friday.
As the story goes, Steve was supposed to being skiing in California all week and had reserved the week off. Sadly, California had NO snow so Steve changed his plans to ski in Utah. Life happened like always and Steve's ski trip to Utah was canceled too.
He scheduled work for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, but took off Tuesday to take the little kids skiing at Pomerelle and Friday off to spend with me. (But after a huge snow storm hit, I'm guessing he would have rather gone skiing again with Andrew on Friday. The snow would have been fantastic! I felt bad he didn't get his week long skiing extravaganza, but I'm super happy he chose to spend a day with me.)
We had the day all planned out. 1. Get the kids to school. 2. Drop off Saylor at Grandma Dixon's house. 3. Go to lunch. 4. Shop and get a few errands run. 5. Go to a movie. 6. Go out to dinner.
Well….the day wasn't quite like we expected. The roads were awful due to the snow so travelling anywhere was a mess. Also, as soon as we got Saylor dropped off, I got a text from Carter that his pump was low on insulin. By this time it was already 10:30. So we improvised. We picked up Carter from school, took him home to reload the pump and change his infusion set, fed and changed Grady, and then headed for lunch with two kids in tow.
Not the most romantic of lunches, but with five kids and 16 years under our belt, this is how we roll.
Carter was even useful and took our anniversary picture.

Grady was perfect as always.
Carter ate like a king and ordered the salmon and fries.
Much more fun than the peanut butter sandwich he would have had!
His meal came with soup so he ordered the lobster bisque…mostly for the joke purposes. My kids can't stop saying "lobster bisque" in their annoying Studio C voice so he thought it would be fun to try. It wasn't fun to taste!
After lunch we took Carter back to school and then did a tiny bit of shopping- Costco, Target and TJ Maxx. (you know the essentials.)
This is what the weather looked like from the TJ Maxx parking lot. You could hardly see the bridge.
By then the clock read 2:30 and we picked the kids up early from school and took them to Grandma's house to play in the snow the rest of the afternoon. We pulled them out early because we knew if we didn't we wouldn't have enough time to make it across town and back to catch our 4:15 movie. The roads were a mess and we were driving about 20 mph most of the time. We had grabbed the kids snow clothes on the way too. Good thing because Grandma had a good 6 inches of snow on her back porch. Kid heaven!
Almost forgot!
These were a find at TJ Maxx. They are amazing!
If you want some, I'm sorry to tell you that we bought all four bags and unless they had more in the back we left none to share. Happy Anniversary to us!
Grady came along with us to the movie.
We saw Frozen and were the only ones in the theater.
Whats a movie without popcorn and a HUGE soda?
Yep…really we were the only ones there and that was a good thing.
Grady was a pill and cried to get down and crawl around the entire movie. Five minutes before the movie ended, he fell asleep on Steve's shoulder.
After the movie, we were both too full of popcorn and the roads were just getting worse and more slick. We drove out to Kimberly again and picked up the kids.
