Hair, Teeth and Whining

Steve, being the amazing dad that he is, cut Andrew's hair Sunday night in prep for EFY on Monday morning at CSI.  He also attempted cutting Carter's hair in the same cut we got him last time.  Monday morning I made appointments for Carter, Colby and Grady…to fix Carter's hair and give Steve a break from the other two heads.
Brandi at the Spruce Goose did a killer job.
One more thing checked off my list before school starts.

My cute niece Holly stayed a few nights with us this week because of EFY.  We LOVE having her around and love dragging her and Andrew to late night fast food runs.  Teenagers are fun.

We checked the teeth cleaning off our school list too.  Saylor was less than thrilled.

The only way I can get picture from EFY seems to be by stealing them off intagram accounts.
Andrew had a great time.

My mom's back porch is truly a paradise.  We spend time there every morning watering flowers and enjoying the cool breeze.  Most of us are dressed in the morning…kind of.
Muscles and morning sun mix I guess.

Thursday night was the first night both Steve and I were both home without somewhere to be.
Monday:  new convert baptism.
Tuesday: Weekday RS meeting - canoeing on the Snake.
Wednesday:  YM's - swimming merit badge at Thousand Springs.
We decided to take the kids and enjoy the beautiful weather at Shoshone Falls.

My kids call this symbol the "Chicken Sign" as if you look close it totally looks like a chicken with eyes and an open beak.  They had to get a picture.  This sign is up all over downtown Twin Falls and we cant drive through without "Chicken Sign" being hollered out over and over.

Handsome Carter.

Beautiful Say.

Adorable…yet unimpressed Colby.

Remind me why we are taking these crazy yahoo's anywhere!

After enjoying the falls, we hiked the canyon trail that winds up out of the canyon and meets up with Evil Knievel's  jump sight.
They did really well at first.  (this was a foreshadowing moment.)

We even found a few fun caves to explore.

But then the tiredness set in and the kids got whiny.

We didn't make it to the jump sight because we knew Saylor wasn't going to finish and we weren't about to carry her much to her chagrin.
Carter threw a pretty substantial fit because we weren't going to finish.
Colby ended up losing money that he'd earned because he wouldn't stay with us or on the trail.
I wanted to strangle a few of them by the time we made it back to the car.

We want to take our kids to more beautiful places like this, but for some reason it always turns out more difficult than planned.   I'll look at this picture and try to block out the whining and complaining and pretend it was the easiest thing ever…then maybe I'll go out with my children again.  Ha ha.
