I haven't had my camera out for a few days, but summer is rolling along even without photographic evidence. I feel busier than ever, even though by the time Steve gets home from work most days I have nothing to show for the hours that have passed while he was gone...unless you count keeping five children alive, fed, dressed, taxied and entertained an accomplishment. (which I do)
I had a few rough days last week where I burst out in tears just from feeling overwhelmed. I have in my head a reality where everything that could be balanced and finished should be balanced and finished, but alas, I don't live in that reality. I live in a reality where because of a well meant sacrament meeting talk about service last Sunday, I went home early, cried, and slept for an hour and a half. "If I can't do everything correct, I'll just do nothing."
I felt better after the nap and decided not to become inactive after all...something I considered earlier in the day.
...just when I though my postpartum hormones were back in line. Ha Ha.
But enough about my whining.
Here are a few pictures I took with my phone today to document a random summer afternoon.
This is how a 12 year old babysits so his mother can work on laundry.
I'll take what I can get.
Carter rotted his brain this afternoon. But in his defence, his guitar was practiced, his room was clean, his assigned bathroom was scrubbed, he had already swam 90 minutes this morning and it was 100 degrees outside.
...plus he wasn't arguing with anyone. I'm all for a little brain rotting.
After dinner tonight, the boys ran through the sprinklers for a while and then ended up in the front yard doing who knows what. I came outside to Carter tied up in a garden hose, Andrew whacking him with a wet shirt and Colby flexing his muscles.
I'm so confused.
Why Why Why??
Just showing off.
More random things that only brothers will ever understand.
After the boys dried off we took all the kids to the grocery store and to buy fireworks for the 4th.
I stayed in the car...lucky for the kids. I might have vetoed this massive purchase.
This face is priceless.
I guess I could say he was excited????
Ok...this face is priceless too.
Grady is getting so stinking fun! He is all giggles and smiles most of the day.
He is such an easy going happy baby.
I'm grateful beyond grateful that he is so calm and content.
And the eyes are still blue!
Love love love this smile.
Saylor after shopping tonight.
It's almost goes without saying that my children are not getting enough sleep. They have been up late almost every single night this summer. I have to drag them out of bed around 8am to get ready for swimming. I think they would sleep until 9 if I let them. (Oh how I wish I could let them!)
Lastly tonight...
Grady's 3 months teaser.
Two days ago I got Grady's 3 month pictures back. I haven't downloaded them all yet, but I will soon and then I'll post more.
Dang- this baby is cute.
Dang- I'm lucky to have a photographer friend.
Dang- I love crazy baby hair.
